NORTHAMPTON — A School Committee subcommittee heard that the district's new after-school program had 327 children enrolled. Superintendent Anna Maria Azarloza told members about 243 attend daily across the four elementary schools, with a waitlist of "probably under 10" at Bridge Street. "I can promise January but I can't promise sooner," she said of admitting those children.
She also reported encouraging early results from phone-free pouch procedures at JFK and Northampton High School, with fixes needed in first-period consistency and dismissal unlocking. Members approved the August 31 minutes and agreed to hold standing updates on both topics. Members also favored blocking 90 minutes for future meetings.
The next meeting was set for December 7.
