Other Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026

Northampton's Community Preservation Committee seated two new members and approved $4,350 in statewide coalition dues as it opened its fiscal 2027 cycle with about $1.7 million to allocate against roughly $1.3 million in requests. New members Ben Wood, the Northampton Housing Authority's representative, and a member known as Tish were sworn in and introduced themselves. Staff reported the historic reserve holds $284,000, against a $35,000 Academy of Music curtain-replacement request, while the city's $500,000 Connecticut River Greenway trail design lost its expected state transportation-funding eligibility.

Member Martha said "there appear to be some inequities built into the dues fee scale" after the coalition ignored a prior complaint; the committee voted 8-0 by roll call to pay the dues and resend its concern with a request for a response. Member Chris Hellman volunteered to research possible changes to the state's 25-year-old, unchanged $100,000 CPA exemption threshold. The committee set applicant interviews for October 7 and October 21.
