NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton City Council committee unanimously recommended Kathleen Rose for the Northampton Housing Authority and backed reappointing the Agricultural Commission's chair, known in the discussion as John A. Councilor Meg Robbins, who interviewed Rose, said the 21-year Hampshire Heights resident helped get the complex's long-closed community room reopened and has closely followed housing authority finances. Councilor Chris flagged a procedural question, noting Rose's nomination paperwork does not specify whether the seat is designated for a public-housing resident representative, after an earlier nomination involving Rose and another candidate, Joella, was pulled from the agenda last spring.
Members voted 4-0 to recommend Rose anyway, with Councilors Dobbs, Stratton, Clemmer and Robbins all voting yes, and agreed to seek written clarification before Thursday's council meeting. The committee also voted 4-0 to recommend John A.'s reappointment, describing him as the commission's chair "since its creation" and a multigenerational farmer. Members separately discussed mold complaints at Hampshire Heights and Florence Heights.
