Other Committee · Meeting of August 31, 2026

NORTHAMPTON — A Northampton City Council committee unanimously recommended Kathleen Rose for the Northampton Housing Authority and reappointed John as Agricultural Commission chair. Councillor Robbins, who interviewed Rose, said she has lived at Hampshire Heights for 21 years and helped reopen a long-closed community room there. A councillor identified only as Chris flagged that the nomination paperwork did not specify whether Rose's seat was designated for a public-housing resident, saying "it's about the process," though the committee voted 4-0 to recommend her anyway.

Councillors also discussed ongoing mold complaints at Hampshire Heights and Florence Heights. The Agricultural Commission reappointment, moved by Chris and seconded by Robbins, also passed 4-0; councillors noted the nominee is a multi-generational Northampton farmer. Both recommendations head to the full council.
