Disability Commission votes to move Pride story hour to July 16

Disability Commission · Meeting of June 9, 2026

NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton Disability Commission rescheduled its Disability Pride Month story hour to July 16 to accommodate Forbes Library. Commissioner Jenna Perna-Elias declined re-nomination for leadership due to graduate school obligations, opening the chair race as Commissioner Jeremy Dubs nominated himself for Chair and proposed Commissioner Amy Lawton for Vice-Chair. Carl Kruger was selected to fill a vacant commission seat.

City Councilor Dubs reported progress on accessibility projects including sidewalk improvements for Picture Main Street and development of an accessibility tour guide with City Councilor Klemmer and former Council President Jim Nash. The city received a SMILE grant for a floating beach wheelchair at Musante Beach.
