Conservation Board OKs two wetlands compliance requests

Conservation Board · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Northampton Conservation Commission closes out two wetlands projects, delays a hospital hearing. Meeting remotely with no public attendance, the board voted 4-0 to issue a certificate of compliance for a rebuilt Connecticut River bank at 140 River Bank Road, where the chair described "a really significant bank failure" caused by a fallen tree, repaired by New England Environmental, now SWCA. Members also voted unanimously to close out Smith College's 8 College Lane project, which replaced the school's historic admissions building, "a historic structure that unfortunately was demo'd," per the chair.

Minutes from an October 9, 2025 meeting were approved 3-0. Cooley Dickinson Hospital's vegetation-removal notice of intent was continued to October 8 at 5:35 p.m. at the applicant's request, with no substantive discussion held.
