Other Committee · Meeting of July 6, 2026
Northampton's City Services Committee voted to recommend Daniel Nye as the city's new veterans services director. Nye, a four-year veterans services officer who served in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2012, succeeds outgoing director Steve Connor at the 14-community Central Hampshire Veteran Service District; the roll call passed 4-0. The committee also unanimously recommended Carl Kruger, a retired 40-year human services administrator, for the Disability Commission, and Benjamin Hood, an environmental engineer at the firm referred to in the meeting as Tighe & Bond, for the Conservation Commission.
Councilor Robbins called Stratton's vetting report on Kruger "the best description of a candidate for anything I've ever had." Members then debated, without changing policy, whether to start interviewing reappointees before voting 4-0 to reappoint 11 members across 10 boards, including the Council on Aging, Zoning Board of Appeals and Historical Commission.
