Northampton Zoning Board postpones Cooley Dickinson Hospital sign hearing over lighting concerns. Board members David Bloomberg, Elizabeth Silver, and Maureen Scanlon voted unanimously March 26 to continue the special permit hearing for the illuminated "You Are Welcome Here" sign at 30 Locust St to April 9. Three residents, including Christina White of Florence, opposed the proposal citing light pollution and wildlife impacts.
Board member Maureen Scanlon raised concerns the illumination could confuse people seeking critical hospital services.
