NORTHAMPTON — School Committee subcommittee endorses district-wide after-school program with extended hours. The Budget and Property Subcommittee unanimously recommended pursuing a district-wide out-of-school program operating from 2:15 pm to 6:00 pm with Executive Office of Education licensing for state voucher access, covering enrollment costs for low-income families connected through the Department of Children and Families and TANF. Separate unanimous votes approved district-wide financing and engagement with the Leeds School Council regarding surplus fund use for start-up costs, and a higher-end pay option for caregivers.
Business Administrator Jones reported FY27 level service budget growth of 6.4 percent, the Mayor's budget at 5.5 percent increase, and the strong budget exceeding 14 percent, with a $500,000 gap between the Mayor's and level service budgets.
