School Committee forms ad hoc family engagement committee

Northampton School Committee · Meeting of March 30, 2026

Northampton School Committee opts for study over family advisory council. At its procedural retreat, the committee voted 5-3-1 to form an ad hoc committee examining family engagement approaches and gaps in consultation with the new superintendent, rejecting Members Anat Weisenfreund and Renika Montgomery-Tamakloe's proposal for a permanent family advisory council. Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra, Members Alena Bartoli, Amy Martyn, Cindy Mahoney, and Robbie Saner Sullivan backed the study approach.

The ad hoc committee will report recommendations within six months.
