School Committee approves aftercare pricing, IGNITE jobs, and YMCA memo.

Northampton School Committee · Meeting of March 12, 2026

Northampton School Committee approves tiered aftercare fees and YMCA memorandum process after five-hour meeting. Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra and the committee heard three fiscal 2027 budget scenarios ranging from $46.4 million to $50.7 million as Superintendent Bonner, concluding her tenure, called for state funding reforms. The committee approved a fee structure of $5 for students on free and reduced lunch, $7 for general population, and voluntary rates up to $15, with $1 sibling discount and $8 add-on rate; directed staff to share YMCA MOA draft for feedback before final vote; and approved IGNITE program job descriptions for director, site coordinator, and travel nurse.

The meeting ran nearly to 12:10 a.m. with procedural and substantive disagreements over budget priority and aftercare program design.
