Northampton School Committee approves $790,615 mid-year appropriation request. The Committee voted 9-0-1, with Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra abstaining, to adopt Member Tiffany Jewell's proposal for one-time expenses including $123,000 for Student Services, curricular materials, classroom equipment, professional development, facilities upgrades, and special education resources. Superintendent Bonner presented recommendations from the district's ALT team addressing common needs across all schools.
The Committee also voted to direct the Superintendent to bring an order to the Mayor for submission to City Council, though Mayor Sciarra clarified she cannot be ordered to do so.
