Northampton School Committee approves $56.7 million strong FY 27 budget. The Committee voted 9-0 to approve the $56,774,495 strong budget, with Mayor Sciarra abstaining, adding special education teachers, reading and math interventionists, and a dean of students position across the district. Mayor Sciarra cited concerns about reserve depletion within two years, creating an $8 million deficit, and indicated the city will need a tax override for FY 28.

The Committee also unanimously accepted four superintendent finalists for consideration.
