Northampton School Committee approves $47M FY27 budget. Voting unanimously, the committee accepted the $47,001,193 city appropriation, a 6.45 percent increase including Smith College donation and special education stabilization funds. Superintendent Bonner identified budget adjustments including a new third-grade teacher at Bridge Street School and an additional science teacher.
The committee approved donations exceeding $70,000, including $36,000 in NEF small grants and a $3,119.88 Bridge Street PTO donation for air-conditioning units. The committee also modified a YMCA after-school programming agreement to a one-year term with six-month renewal negotiation period, and referred extreme heat policy development to the Rules and Policy Subcommittee.
