Northampton transportation board discusses Bancroft Road parking, snow ordinance enforcement
Transportation & Parking Commission · Meeting of June 16, 2026
Northampton Transportation Commission reviews parking limits and ordinance enforcement. DPW Director Donna LaScaleia and Chief of Police John Cartledge reported that parking on both sides of Bancroft Road restricts emergency vehicles, with the commission considering a permanent one-sided parking limit after temporary restrictions proved effective. The commission also examined enforcement challenges with an ordinance requiring property owners to clear sidewalks of snow and ice; Chief Cartledge cited staffing constraints with only four police cars available, while the city council considers a new order allowing property liens for non-compliance.
Director LaScaleia announced her departure effective end of August.
