Northampton school panel advances policies with community input requirements. The Rules and Policy Subcommittee voted unanimously to forward revised field trip and health education policies to the full School Committee for first reading, while requiring feedback from the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee on a restraint and seclusion policy before April. The district received a $50,000 grant to implement updated state regulations on student restraint and seclusion through Crisis Prevention Institute training and equipment upgrades.

The subcommittee also voted unanimously to seek student input from the Student Advisory Council on the cell phone policy.
