Northampton School Committee · Meeting of June 17, 2026

Northampton School Committee adopts K-12 cell phone ban for fall implementation. The Committee voted 7-3 to make student personal electronic devices inaccessible for the entire school day, with exemptions for IEPs and health plans, over objections from Members Weisenfreund, Montgomery-Tamakloe, and Stein about cost and cultural concerns. Superintendent Bonner was directed to develop implementation procedures before August 26.

The Committee also approved an updated Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan aligned with state guidance and approved MOAs for Nutrition Services Clerical Staff (6-3 vote) and Tech Integrationists (6-2 vote).
