Northampton fiscal task force plans three upcoming public forums on city finances. The 13-member Fiscal Assessment Community Task Force, established by Mayor Sciarra to examine city finances ahead of a likely FY2028 budget override, unanimously authorized Samuel Masinter to finalize the press release. The group confirmed forums for September 19 and 30 and October 27 at Jackson Street School Library, Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School Cafeteria, and the Senior Center, with Rachel Maiore managing Zoom operations and Sylvie Whitehill coordinating childcare through Key Club.

The task force also reviewed the city's 3.6 percent debt-to-operating-budget ratio, the 7.5 percent policy cap, and the Picture Main Street project's estimated $11.8 million cost.
