Northampton approves retiree COLA increase, parking ordinances

NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton City Council backs a retiree pension increase to $16,000 base. The council referred Order 26.097 to the consent agenda for final approval; the measure, recommended by Finance Director Charlene Nardi, would increase the cost-of-living adjustment base for retirees from $13,000 to $16,000, providing $480 more annually per pensioner beginning FY2028. The council unanimously passed five parking ordinances affecting Parsons, Vernon, and Elm Streets and bus stop locations.

The council unanimously approved $39,100 for Division of Community Care expanded Saturday and holiday service hours and $110,200 for Fire Department overtime.
