NORTHAMPTON — License Commission finds violation at Tellus and imposes two-day suspension. The Northampton License Commission voted unanimously on May 11 to find that Tellus and The Satellite Bar at 150 Main Street violated overcapacity regulations on April 19, 2026, when the establishment held approximately 140 patrons against a licensed limit of 74. Chair Natasha Yakovlev, Commissioner Jennifer Ewers, and Commissioner Amy Cahillane unanimously rejected the April 5 overcrowding charge due to lack of a formal head count.
The panel imposed a two-day license suspension, with one day to be served within 90 days on a date of the establishment's choosing and the second day held in abeyance for six months conditional on no further overcrowding. Police testified that the April 19 incident also involved serving alcohol to a 20-year-old patron who became highly intoxicated and unresponsive.
