License Commission clears Tellus bar of underage-access violation despite concerns

License Commission · Meeting of June 8, 2026

Northampton License Commission votes 2-1 to find no violation at Tellus & The Satellite Bar. Commissioners Amy Cahillane and Jennifer Ewers found insufficient evidence that the establishment knowingly allowed a 20-year-old entry using an expired borrowed ID on May 17, 2026, while Commissioner Natasha Yakovlev dissented and favored sanction based on the bar's pattern of repeated incidents. Police Chief John Cartledge had recommended a two-day suspension.

Manager of Record Amanda Riseling stated that Tellus has since implemented ID verification for all patrons entering or re-entering and is willing to acquire an ID scanner.
