Legislative Matters Committee reviews zoning amendment processes

NORTHAMPTON — Committee on Legislative Matters discusses zoning process and two proposed amendments to ease housing development. Planning and Sustainability Director Carolyn Misch reviewed amendments to exempt two-family homes over 2,000 square feet from site plan review and to reduce side yard setbacks in Urban Residential districts from 15 feet to 12 feet (or potentially 10 feet). Councilor Christopher Stratton raised concerns about impacts on property values, traffic, and parking.
