Housing Partnership elects Shaffer as Vice Chair, hears Valley CDC market data.

Housing Partnership · Meeting of February 2, 2026

NORTHAMPTON — Housing Partnership re-elects Hannah Shaffer Vice Chair, hears Valley CDC market data. Laura Baker of Valley CDC presented lottery results from two major affordable developments: a 23 Laurel Street project priced at 30-60 percent AMI drew 2,400-plus applications for 20 units with 47 percent of applicants reporting homelessness; Prospect Place generated over 4,000 applications for 60 family and studio apartments, moving in residents by end of February. Both projects are fossil-fuel free; Prospect Place was among Massachusetts' first multi-family geothermal installations.

The partnership discussed 2026 priorities including housing trust funds, accessory dwelling units, and the Northampton Housing Authority's role in housing sufficiency, while planning a nearly complete resource brochure for distribution to service agencies.
