Finance Committee adjourns after procurement dispute over auditor selection
City Council Committee on Finance · Meeting of June 10, 2026
NORTHAMPTON — City Council Committee on Finance adjourns after dispute over auditor selection. The committee met for nine minutes on June 10 before Vice Chair Meg Robbins left over concerns about the procurement process for the city's next independent auditor. Councilor Deborah Klemer, Chair, had obtained quotes from Roselli, Clark & Associates and CBIZ, formerly Marcum, LLP, in addition to a proposal from current auditor Scanlon & Associates.
Robbins objected, saying the committee had not decided whether to conduct a full procurement and that Klemer lacked authority as a single councilor to solicit bids; after she departed citing ethical discomfort, the committee lost quorum and adjourned.
