NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton Disability Commission plans Disability Pride Month 2026 events and reviews city accessibility priorities. Chair Amy Sugihara led the meeting as the commission discussed scheduling story hours at Forbes and Lilly libraries and arranging interpreter services for summer events. The commission noted that a public service announcement on sidewalk snow removal, in progress with Northampton Open Media, is expected to be completed within a week.
The commission reviewed the city's ADA Transition Plan and identified actions including improving snow removal procedures, enhancing accessible parking, and increasing staff training on disability issues.
