Council on Aging schedules facility upgrades, reviews programs

NORTHAMPTON — The Northampton Council on Aging unanimously approved prior meeting minutes and received director's report on Activity Room facility upgrades scheduled for June 24 and 25, including new audio-visual and sound equipment. May statistics showed 24 new members and daily average attendance of 190 at the Senior Center. The board highlighted Pride Month programming: the Gay Men's Group (meeting weekly for approximately 17 to 18 years), Silver Lesbians (started May 2023), and GrandPride, a monthly collaboration with Translate Gender serving grandparents of transgender and gender expansive individuals.
Robert Dionne reported on Highland Valley Elder Services building expansion and grant funding. The board will next convene August 13, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., with no July meeting.
