Conservation Commission continues buffer-zone driveway hearing to April 23

NORTHAMPTON — Conservation Commission continues driveway hearing for buffer-zone work at Stone Ridge. The commission voted unanimously to continue a Notice of Intent hearing on driveway construction in the buffer zone at 17 and 39 Stone Ridge Drive for Sunwood Builders. Kris Baker of Berkshire Design presented plans for grading and driveway work that would encroach on the buffer zone at the sandy site; infiltration basins are proposed for stormwater management, with all tree removal occurring outside the buffer.
Commissioners raised concerns about slope stability, erosion risk, and whether the project met the standard that buffer-zone work is permitted only when no alternatives exist. Ward 6 Councilor Chris Stratton commented on proximity to the Greenway and multi-use trail. The hearing was continued to April 23 at 5:30 p.m.
