Conservation Commission clears Damon Road parking lot work

Conservation Commission · Meeting of January 22, 2026

Northampton Conservation Commission exempts parking lot improvements from full permitting but imposes buffer protections. The Commission unanimously issued a negative determination for 136 Damon Road, allowing parking and sidewalk work without a full wetlands permit while requiring sand only (no deicing products) and snow storage outside the 100-foot buffer. Commissioner Downey Meyer moved; Paul Foster-Moore seconded.

The board also unanimously extended the permit at 25 Maple Avenue for three years amid delays and issued a partial Certificate of Compliance at 225 Nonotuck Street, where plantings and deed covenants remain incomplete. Construction on Nashawannuck Brook and Boggy Meadow Road trail projects begins in early spring.
