Commission votes Bridge Road farmhouse not preferably preserved

Northampton Historical Commission rejects demolition protection for 19th-century farmhouse on Bridge Road. The Commission voted unanimously not to determine 604 Bridge Road "preferably preserved" under the city's demolition review ordinance, despite noting the structure as one of the last remaining 19th-century farmhouses in that section of the city. Property owners Mike Pickett and Christine Bourgeois cited the building's poor condition and inability to obtain insurance.
The Commission also reviewed design proposals for a Local Historic District project at 330 Elm Street and supported a residential conversion at 81 Henshaw Avenue, while agreeing to create an online application form for historic award nominations.
