Urban Forestry Commission · Meeting of February 4, 2026
Northampton's Urban Forestry Commission planned spring tree plantings and recruited volunteers for a new tree maintenance program. Chair Richard Parasiliti, Jr., who reported attending a January conference of tree wardens and foresters, worked with Member Richard Parrish to contact roughly 40 residents about the new maintenance program; thirteen expressed interest. The commission plans to focus on trees 1 to 3 years old and targets planting sites including about 20 locations at JFK Middle School and 5 to 6 at Spring Grove Cemetery, with the tentative planting date of April 18-19.
Arbor Day seedlings will be distributed on April 24-25.
