Northampton Energy Commission charts 2026 priorities for geothermal and solar growth. The commission voted 6-0 to approve prior minutes, with four members abstaining. Key initiatives include a geothermal system for Northampton High School through the Green School Works Grant, with construction in summer 2026, and solar projects at Ryan Road Elementary (120 kilowatts on roof) and Jackson Street Elementary (250-kilowatt parking canopy).
Vice Chair Carolyn Misch and other members also identified 2026 priorities including renewable energy credits, food waste recovery, gas leaf blower restrictions, and expanded bus service.
