City Council unanimously approves immigration and school energy measures

NORTHAMPTON — City Council unanimously approves immigration enforcement resolution. The council passed Resolution 26.055 on a 9-0 final reading, taking a formal stance on community safety and federal immigration enforcement following extensive public comment calling for stronger protective language. The council also unanimously approved reprogramming $313,489 for school energy projects, including urgent cooling installations at JFK Middle School's library needed by June for summer school, and heating and cooling conversions at Jackson Street Elementary with projected annual savings of $14,938.
