Northampton Board of Health schedules public hearing on nicotine reduction policy. The board, with Dr. Joanne Levin, Dr.
Suzanne Smith, Dr. Cynthia Suopis, and Janet Grant, MSPH present, unanimously voted to hold the hearing at its April meeting and set July 1 as the potential effective date. Public Health Nurses reported that influenza cases surged during the 2025 respiratory season, exceeding COVID-19 counts, with Northampton's vaccination rate reaching 47.3 percent against a Massachusetts average of 35.8 percent.
The Northampton Youth Health Coalition received a $10,000 grant from Health Resources In Action for a youth equity project on tobacco prevention.
