Board authorizes state election system evaluation and audit

Board of Registrars · Meeting of April 9, 2026

Northampton Board of Registrars pursues state election system evaluation and audit. With approximately 3,600 inactive voters identified citywide and about 260 per polling location, the board noted that roughly 134 voters need address updates and 46 are requesting registration changes. Registrar Joseph Tarantino raised concerns about automatic voter registration through the Registry of Motor Vehicles and potential security vulnerabilities.

Clerk Pamela Powers will pursue an audit of the city's local election procedures, with the state evaluation available at no cost to the city.
